I have a set of older Penn 50s and was wondering if anyone has a good way of making them look new again. Is there a way to make them shine again without scratching them to hell?

Be careful with the rubing compound. You can actually strip the finish off of the reel and end up with a silver 50w that will corrode like hell.

I would try Brasso metal polish, I've used it on many metal surfaces and they always polish up well. Havent tried it on any reels before though

Good luck

In the shop here I clean them up with an aluminum polish called Sheila Shine. It removes any grime, oil, grease and tarnish and leaves a thin, hard coating over the surface. Wipe it down real good and the reels look 110 times better
