Are all polarized sunglasses created equal? Trying to decide whether or not to consider investing in a high dollar pair.......or is all the hype, basically, in the name?

they're not all created equal, I wore Ray Ban's for yr's, then went to Oakley's then switched to Costa's. been wearing nothing but Costa's for about 8 yr's now.....I know some guys have had problems with warranty service but I've never had a problem......I just got a pair of $200 Harpoon's w/ 400 lenses warrantied out, the lenses were delaminating after wearing every day for a yr and a half and I broke them between the lenses and it cost me $36....can't beat that on a pair that I wore every day for that long.....I use them every day driving and in the tower.....

I've probably sent back 6-8 pair and that's the most I've ever paid to have a pair replaced. I also recently bought a pair of Fathom's 580's with the new silver mirror and love them too.....I got them at Outcast. I've heard the guidelines are good but haven't bought a pair yet.

The old addage , you get what you pay for holds true for everything including sunglasses. I can say I used to wear cool ray poloriod sunglasses and had no complaints but now you can't find a decent pair of cheap glasses.

Capt. Brad King (2/7/2010)Been a Costa man for about 5 years now.. The Hammerheads with vermillion lenses are AWESOME for sight fishing reds!!!!

I do hear great things about the Guidelines as well!!!

I had the same H-heads as you. Put on a pair of Rio Elites from Guidelines and there's no comparing. G'lines hands down.

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">I have a pair of Maui Jims that I have had for 10 years and they?re pretty good. The service on Maui Jims is excellent. One of the arms broke off last year and I sent them back with a check for $15 and they repaired them and sent them back in a new case with a new cleaning cloth no questions asked . Great service but I?ve heard nothing but how great Costas are so my next pair will be Costas.<U><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p></U>

The lensaredifferent. Check out this comparison: http://kaenon.com/sr91/KaenonComparison.html

I'm a 2x Kaenon wearer (i have copper lens in 1 pair, and gray in the other)and LOVE THEM. But whateversuch brandyou go with, they are gonna be pricey but they are worth it in the end becauseyou're not replacing them every couple monthslikeya would be with like the Sea Striker (for example)glasses problems (lens film, cheap pieces, paint popping off, stretched frame, etc). Get some that have warranty.

The Guidelined glass lensesare not much if any different than the costas. The only reason Costa is higher priced is simply because they are more of a name brand product and can afford to be high. Nothing isdifferent in the production of them. I personally fish with Guideline because Costas return policy sucks! If you breakCostas it is hell getting them replaced!

I own a pair of wave killer 580s in green mirror and a pair of guidelines purchased from hotspots. I say guidelines hands down. Costas are great if you need to be part of the cool glasses club but their customer service sucks to say the least. Cost me 135 dollars to have the lenses replaced on the 580s.
