Hate to keep pounding this point home, but feel I need too as I view the SOS sector separation plan a major threat to recreational fishing in the Gulf as we know it. Recommend that we all stay vigilant and speak out against this plan when and where we can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below messageis from the primary SOS plan supporter CAPT Gary Jarvis in it he makes these points.

- The reality is that we (private and charter boats)all compete for the same resource and under these AM measures we all are in a DERBY fishery every man for himself.

- Being tied to the private BOAT recreational angler ... certain death for..(charter) business and industry.

-Private BOAT recreational sector does not want accountability or to be accountable.

- (Private anglers) can fish for other fish or park their boats and do other recreational activities and spend their money elsewhere."

"Well, Captains and Mates,Below is a post from the 2cool blog based out of Texas. It was sent to me by a Professional Captain from Galvaston. He told me he has saved many more like this one. It is long and tongue in cheek but behind it is the honest truth .You do not have to go far or on other blogs before this sentiment is exposed. This animosity was there way before SOS and will remain after SOS. The reality is that we all compete for the same resource and under these AM measures we all are in a DERBY fishery every man for himself. In Mobile last week in the gulf council meeting A CFH Captain stood and spoke about sector separation and you could here the uncertainty in his voice. He was worried about what sector separation would look like and exactly what it would mean to his business .But after working and meeting with the private boat recreational sector he had to finally admit that being tied to the private BOAT recreational angler was certain death for his business and industry. He came to realize that the private BOAT recreational sector does not want accountability or the pain in the butt to be accountable. They can fish for other fish or park their boats and do other recreational activities and spend their money elsewhere."
