paint or vinyl camo on shorgun?

paint or vinyl camo on shotgun?

Guys, which is better, properly paint a shotgun or install vinyl camo? Paint will scratch off but the gun possibly rust under the vinyl. It is for a home defense shotgun. Seen people paint $1000+ guns without a second thought !
