This is outside New Orleans but growing up, my family's favorite restaurant was and still is Middendorfs over in Manchac, Louisiana (I was born in LaPlace close by). It isn't what it used to be due to hurricanes and owners changing. But no one does thin fried catfish like they do (except me😁) and it's in a pretty unique location. Worth the trip. Dont know if they still do, but the Mannings went there a lot.

Coop's for fried chicken in the quarter.
Parkway for a poboy.
Drago's for oysters.
Cochon for wood-fired oven pork deliciousness.
La Petit Grocery for a nice brunch or lunch.
... and many more.

There's so much good food in New Orleans, it just depends on what you're in the mood for.
