I know that NAS Pensacola and Corry Station you can get on Base with just a DL. I'm not sure about Whiting. I'll call them tomorrow when I get to the office and let yall know..... It is free no charge...

When I was up there you had to be active duty or DOD civilian and take a archery safety test through MWR and have the card with you on the range. Not sure of any changes that have been made.

What do they charge? Military and civilian?
There ain't a deer in the woods that I need to kill if I had to practice at whiting and endure the entry procedure at The gate. It is hard to make me mad, but it has happened at that gate or God forbid the pass and tag office at whiting more than anywhere else. I was actually "drawn" on with I assume an m16 several years ago for taking a cell phone call while my vehicle was being inspected. I was almost taken to the "brig" once when they found about ten empty 12ga hulls I had picked up and put in a Walmart bag.... SPENT HULLS!! Already shot!! I'm all for protecting our service men and keeping our bases safe but COME ON!! If you don't have a very good, approved reason to be on base and have an escort, I can't imagine them allowing non military in. I was a contractor with a pass but they don't issue those anymore Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

did you address any of these problems to any of the base higher ups?

Those two stories are just the tip of the iceburg with me and gate security. Do remember one instance when I was called out for service on the big entrance sign ( you can see it from the gate) and they turned me away for having a machete in the truck. I explained that I needed it to cut the bamboo vines behind the sign that usually grow up the backside and cover the power supply, but post 911 knee jerks sent me the other way. I was a licensed, registered with the base contractor that installed the sign but it didn't matter. After heading back, a quick call to the CO (it was a lady if I remember right) got me on board with an escort. If your a regular, military, or PRI you are fine or if you spend the $350 for the rapid gate pass system. Otherwise just stay home and target practice on your neighbors chicken!

Yep...Military and DOD only...Just called...
I drive right by there going to my lease. I never knew that they had a range like that. I enjoy shooting in my backyard since I can shoot out to 60 yards if needed. But I like that good setup and putting holes in their targets as well. Might have to check it out sometime.
