Noco Genius is one of the better ones. I've never had the first issue out of any of mine. I normally order from Amazon. Not sure who carries them local.

Onboard battery chargers are a crap shoot... I've had some Guest units that were bad out of the box....Overcharged on one circuit and cooked the battery....The replacement was the same way.... The 3rd was finally OK.

Had some other name brands that went bad also.


But If I was buying today... It would be a Noco Genius.

do you think a 2 bank 8 amp would be efficient enough to keep up with me just recreationally fishing a few times a month? I have 2 interstate 12volts that I need to maintain.

 

put one of these in the Fat Jax over the winter, after a trip, it only takes a few hours for all the lights to go green again. It may be less time, but that's when I looked at it...

I have two 25 year old Guest units that still work with excellent charging profiles.
Knock on wood.

But I consistently hear of issues with the newer models.

It appears they are all a crapshoot to some degree these days other than Dual Pro, a hugely popular bass boat model which is also repairable, but as such, it is questionable for saltwater use since it is not completely sealed.

I'm sure there are several good ones out there, but Noco is an affordable sealed unit that appears to be more reliable than most, including Minn Kota, and that is what I would go with.

 

Mine is a Charging Systems International, which is Dual Pro now. Had it since 2002 without a single problem.
