UPDATE to BREAKING NEWS: The W&T Offshore platform is located in Ship Shoal 233B. The fire is under control. All were evacuated from the platform and 3 workers are being treated for minor scrapes and bruises


BREAKING NEWS: The Coast Guard tells NEWS 10 an oil platform in the Gulf is on fire. It's a W&T Offshore platform. They tell us it has been evacuated and 3 workers are being treated for minor injuries. No surrounding rigs or platforms have been evacuated. The Coast Guard says the fire is under control but still burning. Right now they are assessing for possible leaks. We are continuing to gather information.

"The company reported there were seven active wells on the platform and one caught fire, but all are now shut in. Mariner also reported the platform produced an average of 1,400 barrels of oil per day, as well as 1,800 barrels of natural gas each day.
Mariner says stored barrels were the ones that caught fire and that dispersants are on standby if needed."
