I can verify oil at Bear Point this morning June 10.
There were several slicks going the length of St. John's Bayou drifting up on Bear Point.
They contained scattered redish colored tar balls/wads of oil, varried in size from pencil eraser to silver dollar. Very nasty...they resemble an aqua terd.
The disturbing thing about it is when a slick would come up to the dock some of the smallest minnows would get all f___ed up and then the larger pin fish would attack them and of course trout and everything else was busting the surface. This would happen only in the oil slicks. I couldn't catch anything on a mirror lure or jig. Didn't have any live bait.
I have a couple of Tiger Lite rods with reel seats that spin. Was wondering if 2 part epoxy injected between the rod and seat would work or would it be to rigid? Seems those rods flex all the way through the seat on a good fish. Would something else be better? TIA.
