I had high hopes for sightfishing a cobia off my paddle board this morning, but the pesky east wind had other plans. I got set up on the beach with a live eel on the bottom out in the trough, a rod with 2 fresh sandfleas and another rod with fresh dead shrimp. We had a beautiful hole where the deep water funneled in between the sandbars and then ran along the shore but it didn't matter. We didn't even lose a bait this morning! While paddling around looking for the cobe's there were a bunch of schools of really small bait, and birds were working sporadically. Even though it was uneventful it was a great morning at the beach. 730a-11a.
