I'm sure some already know this, but for those who haven't heard, or don't know, the West Marine on Barrancas and Davis hwy are shut down and the new store is opening today. It is on the corner of Brent and Davis next to the Home Depot.

do they have any decent kayaks ?
They got the pompano 120 on sale for 399. I fished out of one for over a year it's a great starter yak
that is a good price

is that the same kayak as an ascend 12 @ bass Pro ?

No. Its the same as a pescador 12 but without a seat. It does have hatch bags and an anchor trolley that the pescador does not come standard with.

They have the same hull which is the pre 2008 tarpon 120.
I've been there twice in the past 10 days. They had a close-out rack for women's fishing shirts and my mom and wife both got good deals. I felt like their prices on stuff I looked at was a little better/about the same as J&M but not as good as SAM's. I like the location and they have it well stocked.
Dont go looking for deals on new electronics Garmin anyway. Because they cant sell any new Garmin products for a cent less than MSRP. But any accessories from Garmin can be discounted.
I have been there twice since last couple weeks. I guess it was a pre grand opening. Watch out for the aggressive helpful sales tactic. I was mentally exhausted sparring with the sales staff. Every isle I was asked can I help you. Do you have a boat, is it a small boat large boat...etc..even the door greeter and the register checkout folks was just plain overly friendly. I had to walk away while they kept talking, it didn't deter them because they started to double team me. One would head me off on another isle then his comrade would come up behind me like a stealthy ninja.
It's Just that I'm use to shopping and being ignored. And if I did have a question, I wouldn't find any functioning human employee. Almost like they scatter like roacheeee
bugs when they see you. Like the employees next door at the Home Depot....

Ha! Sounds like they had a sales training seminar led by the owner of the Four Seasons Grocery up near the Walmart on Creighton! I cringe every time I go in there!

Yep, James at Four Winds is hardcore! He seems to have mellowed a bit but don't give him an inch.

You were right about all of those salemen and women. I must have had 6 people approach me and ask what I was looking for. I think that they just overstaffed for the opening and have a bunch of new people in training.
It is a nice store though, and yes the prices are higher than buying online, but it was cool to go down each isle to see all of the stuff.
I bought a fuel sending unit from there yesterday. staff was very helpful. I figured it would cost more in the store but I wanted to finish yesterday instead of waiting for it to ship from somewhere. Now I just looked the part up on Ebay...... I should have waited 2-3 for it to ship to me. oh well
I finally made it in there this afternoon. I looking for 2 inch stainless U-bolts, they didn't have them, and it didn't matter since the 1 1/2" bolts were $27 each!! Figured I'd get a gallon of acetone, nope, $27 a gallon. Went next door to Home Depot and bought it for $17 a gallon. It's a nice looking store but I can't see me being a regular customer with their prices.
Stainless Bolts and other stainless parts go to national standard next to Oskers restaurant on Cervantes Very helpful and they have everything cheap good grade. 433-1020

Didn't mind getting harassed by clerks out in the store, it was kinda nice. But West has come down with a severe case of Bass Proitis. The check out procedure is brought to an AGONIZING halt by little girls trying to up-market all kinds of crap when you try to buy something. WEST MARINE: knock that shit off!
