My wife and I have been wanting to buy kayaks for a while now since we moved closer to the beach (Spanish Fort). I am right on the lower mobile delta and about 30 miles from GS and OB. We bought two this weekend for recreational use. My wife wants to learn how to fish so i figured these were perfect. I opted for the 10' so we can put them in my truck without having a trailer.

Wouldn't take those into the gulf. Pelicans are prone to leaks. Would suck to be beyond the surf with a boat full of water.

Should be fine then. You may find like I did the more you do it the more you want to to. My first trek took me about 4 miles.

I have the same kayak. I upgraded the seat (which I recommend doing) and can sit in it all day long with no back pain. Good for speck fishin in the bay or rivers. Also good for running shark baits if the surf isnt too rough. Don't try to load much in them or go trolling offshore. Did that once, it was a very uncomfortable experience even though I wasnt alone. Overall, I like it. Its light and I can move it by myself easily. tight lines!
