I'm just now getting into the kayak fishing and I'm loving it alot so far but the places I can put my kayak in the water are limited. I don't have the set of wheels to roll my kayak with and have no money to get any, so I have to carry my 45 pound kayak from the truck to wherever I get in at, and I'm a 5'4 petite female. So that's hard enough when I do find a spot to put in the water. I was wondering if any of you could let me in on easy spots to put kayaks in the water? Anywhere from Pensacola to navarre. I like flats fishing so places around grass flats would be great. Any additional tips would be awesome too. :)

I did find one spot off scenic highway to get in today, so I will be out all day tomorrow :)

Johnson beach has a shallow launching area down the first (only) road to the left. It's perfect for what you're talking about. Plenty of great flats all around there. You need a night owl pass to get the gate code, for early morning access. You can back right down to the water.

You can try the Naval Live Oaks facility in GB. There are a couple of parking spaces in there where you can back up, unload the yak and it's a short, easy drag to the water. Fishing is pretty good on those flats. I think the gates are open early, but the building does not open until 8 am.

Try the end of Oriole Beach Road or Woodlanw Beach Road. there are ramps to launch from and docks to fish... And there is always that small sandy beach area on the GB side of 3mb.

In Pace, try the Simpson River kayak launch on Hwy 90, Pace side. Lots of good trout, red and flounder fishing in that area..

Thanks for all the help! All these spots will keep me busy for a while. I've been checking the weather and the whole next week is supposed to be an east wind every day, are there any places that will be pretty calm to fish on an east wind?

Never fished back there before, but I just looked it up on google maps and it looks great! What types of fish are back there? Also what types of lures and bait would be good for there?
I might head there Monday or Tuesday :)

Reds, specks, bass, hybrids, stripers, flounder...all kinds of stuff. I got into some huge hybrids around there last winter. Never caught one till then, now I'm looking forward to the cooler weather like I'm usually looking forward to spring! Great eating fish! I like using shiny crankbaits back there. If you want live bait, Jim's is right there. They should have shrimp and shiners, both are good. Don't launch at Jim's though, they will charge you, plus it's a much easier launch over by the little public pier just across the water.

I launched from the public pier over by Jim's. Ive only been out twice since I started kayaking. I do enjoy it a lot though. There are some good places to launch @Blackwater as well. Ward Basin road has a couple fish camps you can launch from . They have a small fee though. I think one had a $3 charge that I paid. I had no problem paying for it. Felt more comfortable paying it because the area seemed more secure than others I had checked out previously. The one at the end of Ward Basin has a $5 fee.
