I am in the market for a new or slightly used offshore sport fishing boat. I'd like one that's at least 50', can sleep two, has a galley and whatnot. But my biggest requirement is this: I want a boat that will last my whole life. I want it to be reliable and strong.
My question is, what maker makes the strongest, most reliable boat? Viking? Bertram? I'm a noob. Please educate me.
Anyone that has 9 mil for a boat doesn't come on PFF and ask that question. he just has one built the way he wants it. I must raise that old flag again
I'm not saying I have 9 mil. I just don't want cost to influence the answer. I'm trying to get an idea of what brand is the best, such as Bertram, Viking, and the works.
If I had over a million to spend on a boat, I think that I would look at a high speed catamaran. You could have quite a boat built for that. I see a lot of 50' Bertrams, Hatteras and Vikings used as fishing boats. Find a yacht boat show and look at all of them to see what suits what you plan to do with it. I'm sure that there are a lot of us here who will help you skipper. Let us know what you get.
