Interesting old boat photo. I was thinking about a poster that I saw once that said "Dive Kansas". It had a guy decked out in full scuba gear and was swimming (crawling) through the wheat fields. That would be a fun addition to the photo. Anyway welcome.

I have had many comments wondering about the photos of the old boat in my signature.

She is the Nomad.

As a boy I once worked on her as a"Bait boy" for short time over 50 years ago in Alaska ...dad was in the Air Force there.

She was just one of hundreds of her kind working the inlets, tidal flats and shallow coastal waters of Alaska in the '50's and early '60's.
Her hull was designed with a rather flat bottom and no protruding keel so she was able to rest upright on the mud flats when the tide receded.
We rarely docked.

Nomad was built in the early '50's by the Mateson Brothers (Friends of my father) and later sold to Joe Redington Sr. who is called the father of the Iditarod.

The Nomad is much photographed and has sat on this mud flat for many decades after being put here in '66 or '67.

They were a great classroom for me.
I learned of teamwork, to pulls ones own weight, and to keep an eye out for the other fellows safety.

And I was paid to fish!
Man, oh man......for a young boy ....heaven on earth!
