Or a soldering gun or wood burning tool with a wide tip.
Open a hatch and cut some slivers of the plastic from the raw edge if you need some filler.

Stay away from the butane torch or anything with an open flame. I've done way too many repairs on kayaks that were "repaired" with an open flame. The soldering iron works great for certain cracks but I usually use a heat gun to do the trick. The heat gun is easy to control and work with. Use a paint spade to work the heated plastic around.

Harbor Freight sells the plastics strip and a cheap version of the KC welder. I don't know if I would trust the quality of their plastic, but as far as I know, HF is the only game in town for them...
