Does anyone have one of these tools for a 225 four stroke yamaha. I have a leaking tilt piston and want to do it myself but do not want to spend $80 for a specialized tool i will use once every ten years.

Let us know how that spanner works out for you on getting the cap to move. After a few years in salt water, I use a torch, punch and BFH. Then replace the cap.

I have actually sheared the tits off spanners trying to unscrew them even after heating. I've found that using a punch after heating the outside of the tube, and driving it counter clockwise usually gets it started and after maybe a half a turn, then can take it off with a spanner. Haven't had much luck on saving the caps tho

I've been successful using an air chisel with a punch bit. You have to use low pressure so you don't chew up the cap. Just enough to get it vibrating and not cutting into the cap.

Soak with PB blasster and let sit overnight prior to trying to take of the cap. The caps are like $30 so if you bugger it up, it won't kill you replacing it like Capt Ken said.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I will try all of the above. PB blast soak, then heat, then spanner. If spanner wont do it i will use punch and replace cap. Will Posner carry the replacement caps with the seals already in them? Guess i will call them today and find out. Thanks
