bigone (2/3/2010)Boys from the Plains have one upped the tide, should be interesting next year.

I saw where Shon Coleman signed with Auburn today over Bama, but both teams have very good recruiting classes. As an Auburn fan, I'm very happy about this recruiting class, but let's not count chickens before they hatch. Even if Rivals does end up ranking Auburn's class ahead of Bama's, that is no guarantee that those players will end up being better than the ones Bama recruited this year. That is why games are played, and Bama has won the last two Iron Bowls and a national championship. Auburn is headed in the right direction for sure though.'

Anyway, I would expect the type of post you just made to be posted by an Alabama fan. Auburn fans are supposed to be more level headed.

Auburn has always been about the moral victories, guess you can add this to the list. Anyways, there's a lotoftime left for things to shape up. What can you say though, it's appealing to these younger kids that they can come into a program and start their first year b/c there's no older talent there.

auburn has put together a good recruiting class. The decommit of the 5 star safety hurt bama yesterday. But, I think the biggest thing for auburn right nowis opportunity to play. Most kids know how stacked Bama is next year and know that their playing time would be minimal at best. But heck, Auburn had no where else to go but up :poke

what gets me is there are 5 top 10 sec teams. wow! i wonder if that means dominance in the sec for some more years to come. another is that even though they are all top 10, it puts more pressure on those teams i think because the coach now will be expected to win. roll tide. congrats au on a good year recruiting.

In reality your signees have very little chanceofbeating Alabama in their 4-5yrs on the plains.

On the other hand, ours will play for multiple SEC Championships and probably win at least one NC.

Bama beat Auburn the last couple of years, because they were able to bring in more talent the lastfew years. Auburn at very least matched Bama's recruiting class this year. If that trend continues, what makes you think Alabama will continue to be the better team 5 years from now? Saban is an excellentcoach, but he isn;t going to win every game if he doesn't have the most talented players on the field. (see his first year at Bama).Bottom line, your post drips with ignorant arrogance.

We now have 45 players rated 4* or better. When Saban got there we had 14 ,and his staff estimated we had less than 5 legitimate SEC players. We arestill one class away from having his thumb on the entire team. We are only going to get better in the next 2-3yrs, and I don't see the gap closing b/w UA and anyone in the SEC West in that period. We were not as good this year as we will be in a few years and that is scary. You guys had a great class, congrats.

No doubt Auburn has put together a great class Trooper Taylor has to be the MVP on the coaching staff. Auburn staff is taking advantage of what Alabama did to get back on topand that's playing time. When I was in high school had I been good enough to play college football I would have commited to Alabama in 9th grade. It's different now, there is not many guys who would play for their favorite team no matter the condition of the program. Playing time and going to the NFL early is the key.

In my opinion our (Alabama) class is just what we needed and there is no way I'd trade with AU. I believe Alfy Hill is going to be incredable. The defensive potential in this class is amazing. I also like the Sims kid from Virginia. BTW... I've never been jascked up over a kicker, but this kid Cade Foster is pretty impressive. Cade is #2 kicker in the country (behind the one Auburn signed, I know) he was also the starting MLB for Southlake Carroll in Texas (same HS as McElroy). He could have played LB at most PAC10 or WAC schools.

The parallels of Sabans first year and Chiziksare very interesting.

Good job boys, next year will be fun.Cam Newton,Mario Fannin and Mike Dyer in the backfield and a seasoned, senior offensive line-------------------whoooooo nelly!!!!!!!! I cannot forget the receiving corps, prolly the best in the S.E.C next year.

Auburn will probably end up with a higher ranked class than Bama this year. Bama lost a 5 star kid right at the last minute to Cal Berkley, butAuburn should be congratulated for their great class, but I'm confused. Thelast I heard,Auburn fans didn't think much ofrecruiting rankings-- it was all about character. That's what they've said repeatedly the last two years when Alabama had the top class in the nation and Auburn was way down. Now,I guessrecruiting rankingsmatter since Auburn will beranked ahead of Alabama, but what happened to that"character thing," Aubies?I guess everyone deserves a second chance -- especially when they're a 5 star QB, right?

Anyway, congrats to the Auburn Tigers. Y'allhave secured agreat recruiting class, but it looks like Florida has smoked everyone not only in the SEC but in the nation. They'll be very tough to beatwith or without Urban.

Florida and Texas smoked everyone else for sure....those were the big dogs this year. whichever Auburn fans told you that recruiting rankings aren't important and that character is the primary concern didn't know what they were talking about. There are ignorant Auburns fans in thebunch as well.Rankings are somewhat subjective, because there are just so many players to evaluate, and teams try to choose people that have the skillsets they need. However, raw talent is necessary to compete at the highest levels. Regarding Cam Newton, he paid his dues...not like anylegal action is pending. Who knows if that kid will even pan out this year. He will have to prove that he can throw with accuracy. If he can't throw with accuracy, thenhe's just a taller, strongerversion ofKodi Burns...which wouldn't cut it.

Typical Auburn fans. Always more concerned how they stack up to Bama, then again I guess it's just normal to want to compare yourselves with your idols. Congrats Little Brother you guys have a nice recruiting class, now all you need is someone to coach them up.:moon

The mantra of every Auburn fan I talked to for the last couple years and even Tuberville said his last year that Auburn was more interested in character than "star rankings" of recruits. Of course that came after Saban pulled in his first top rated class with Trent Richardson and Julio Jones, butI seriously have no problem with Cam Newton and hope that he makes it at Auburn and goes on to the big bucks in the NFL. I wasn't kidding when I said everyone deserves a second chance, but I also wasn't kidding when I said"and especially if he's a 5 star QB," because, I'm sure you'll agree, that 5 stars makes it a lot easier to be forgiving no matter what team it is, but I do think he will be a great QB. He's been described as a better throwing Tim Tebow, so he should be able to help immediately.

Alabama lost 7 DBs -- six to graduation and one toearly NFL draft -- so that was their major need this year, and unlike previous years, they're stacked at other positions and needed to address specific needs. So, six of the recruits Bama signed this year were DBs and they got the top DB class in the nation according to Rivals http://alabama.rivals.com/TeamRank.asp?sort=0&year=2010&postype=14so I'm happy.

That is where i think you are wrong. The orginal poster in this thread isn't what i consider a typical Auburn fan to be, and that is why I called him out on his post. Typical Auburn fans are generally fairly objective, and most Auburn fans eitherearned a degree fromthe university or have family thathave earned a degree fromAuburn University...unlike fans of some other schools.

It doesn't matter were they rank today... 2-3 years down the road is when it counts. Besides, Bama has the best is the business when it comes to evaluating and developing players. Bama filled their needs and so did the Barn. We'll see what happens down the road.
