Turns out that boat was my 48 Cabo that I sold a few years back. They were 13 miles out running at 1850 rpm which in that boat was over 30 kts they hit a tree. Snatched the trans off and the stuffing box out On starboard side. They tried to use port engine to back off but were hung up on the tree from what I was told. the guy I sold it to sold it to a guy that ha something to do with running a marina I Cotton bayou. The boat is on the hill at Barber now.

Fished the gulf off shore over 45 years and we ALWAYS had the person running the boat to be on the look out always for floating hazards . You just cant sit there running and not pay attention or that can happen to you

Never run into anything offshore yet.

Running the Atchafalaya river always seems to be a log dodging-fest. Running that river near dark is sketchy. Dead heads ain't no joke. We've thumped a few but thankfully nothing serious.
