Good afternoon. I am new to this forum. Looks like a great bunch of folks willing to share. We are transplanted here from Iowa, and have been mostly upland bird and deer hunting the last 30 years.
I recently bought a J16 Carolina Skiff with a 25hp tiller mount Merc. Both are 1995 models, in great condition. I took it out the first time yesterday and got plum wore out. When at 1/2 throttle or more, the motor wants to pull hard to the right (tiller handle goes strong to the left), It took all I could do to hold it so I could go straight. I actually had to put my left leg of the handle to help hold it.
If I put the motor in the shallow draft setting, it steered a lot easier, but the motor would cavitate and I could not get up to speed.
I figure there is some sort of adjustment, but don't know where to start. Any suggestions? Thanks for the assistance.
