The "Project" is now getting the "second" paint job and interior cleanup. The termite loving "gutters" have been removed and I now have room to put some storage racks for rods, gaffs under the gunnels. I have seen some and would like any recommendations as to boats any of you have had or fished on that have good functional rod racks. I'm hoping to come up with a good design and then make them from 3/4 glassed plywood. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
The pic is the before of those wonderful gutters which have now been removed. Looks like all they were good for was hiding rusty hooks and carrying water to ensure the transom was well moistened. Actually, now I have a solid transom. I was not impressed with what was hiding under that layer of chopgun glass. Not much good was hiding under "wall to wall" carpet either. Seems like the builder felt if he could cover it with carpet there was no need to use stainless.
Thanks in advance.
I'm also redoing the forecabin so, some storage up there is also a possibility.
Next question will be thoughts about outfitting the cockpit and below the flybridge.
Do the holders I've seen on some CC pictures stick out far enough to keep the reels from rubbing against the sides?

I saw a picture of a Mako recently and liked the setup. Since the sides below the gunnels are clean now, that won't be a problem. I can put the racks far enough forward so they will be out of the way while fishing.
Thanks for the input. I'll cruise some of the sites for pics of Mako cockpits to get an idea of design.
