Need some of you livescope gurus to help me put a system together.

Does Garmin make a unit that does require the external blackbox? A two piece system, head unit and transducer only?

I need some suggestions on screen size and what to buy. I have zero experience with them outside of discussions and videos.

Will be a bow mounted unit for catching gizzard shad and perch fishing.

What do I want?

First five minutes of this video is about to cost me a bunch of money

I think Garmin makes a Pantopix transducer that doesn't require the black box but I don't think it'll do what you want it to do. Based on the online reviews, the black box setup is the way to go with a 9" minimum screen.
I use the Humminbird Live and very frustrated with the issues. I'm about ready to switch to Lowrance.

Get the black box You will be disappointed with the panoptix transducer. I have been using a 9 inch 94UHD model and it works good. If you have a lot of money, go for the 12 inch.
Thanks. I’m being told to look at the gpsmap 1022 or 1222. Apparently I can get just the gps without sonar capabilities and blackbox the livescope to it. I dont Think I can afford the 12”.

Joey I have had Lowrance's version for a while now. (I know you hate them and for good reason is what it is) . I have run a 9 and 12. I don't care what anyone says the bigger the screen the better and you want to mount it or be able to adjust it up it as high off the deck as you can. I wish I would have got a 16. Garman has always been ahead and with their new transducer is way ahead of Lowrance and hummingbird. Once you have seen the diff between a 9 and a 12 you will want a 16. Now matter what you WILL LOVE IT! I run a 12 at the console a 12 for forward imagery up front and a 9 ether netted to the console unit. What your going to find out with running different eq. Is that when you find stuff on your rear unit it sucks to not have your front units connected. Meaning you find it on side scan you can mark it and come back on the trolling motor and know exactly where it is with your front unit/units. Once you sit behind it it will blow you mind what you thought you knew about fish and how they react.Oh and ya a front/rear/portable unit will be invaluable to flathead fishing. Sort of crazy to see the fish under a log/rock and drift a bait under it to the fish.

Reread and my point was not made lol. Get the Garmin as a stand alone up front get the lvs34 not the lvs32 transducer. But you will want another Hummingbird linked to your console unit. Just get a smaller used unit of ebay or amazon. Network it to the rear unit. That way it will share way points, transducers and maps.

That's a good idea!
I might do that with my Megalive unit unless it sells soon.
I use Southern Reels Fishing's design for the pvc pole and also use a 2" Ram mount ball on each side of the boat since the keel of the boat is so deep. Its not pretty but gets the job done.

Do you have a web link for the pole?

I think I’m gonna build something like this so I can move it around the boat.
that’s the way I did mine all the cables/communication box and lithium battery inside the box. Made little table in between front seats that I slide it to and drop a pin through it and into the box for the ride. Really easy to just pick up and take off the boat when stored.
