We've always had a good time down there. Always wanted to kayak through the less traveled areas. Glad the kids had some finds!

Wakulla Springs Lodge south of Tallahassee. Beautiful old lodge with swimming area, boat tours, hiking trails. Take the boat and fish the St. Marks and Wakulla Rivers or the refuge, depending on the boat. Fresh water fishing and wildlife watching in the refuge, plus more trails and the St. Marks Lighthouse. There are a couple reasonable motels nearby if you don't want to stay at the lodge. Short drive into Tallahassee to see the old Capitol and the Tallahassee Museum has a zip line, exhibits, etc. The Tallahassee Car Museum is also another cool spot to spend a few hours.

Plant property for my sons birthday last year (5th) and he asks to go back about once a month. It was a great vaca and we will probably do it again when it starts to warm up.
