Anybody got any ideas? Wife says crystal river. I don’t really want to go over there. I threw out Louisiana to an air bnb. My kids are 5 and 9 so not mich to do other than fish for them.
I’m open to about anything. Looking for some ideas.

your kids are the right age for some go cart fun and driving lessons if you find yourselves near a track. my wife said she learned how to recover from a skid etc which saved us and our kids from a wreak.

Wakulla Springs Lodge south of Tallahassee. Beautiful old lodge with swimming area, boat tours, hiking trails. Take the boat and fish the St. Marks and Wakulla Rivers or the refuge, depending on the boat. Fresh water fishing and wildlife watching in the refuge, plus more trails and the St. Marks Lighthouse. There are a couple reasonable motels nearby if you don't want to stay at the lodge. Short drive into Tallahassee to see the old Capitol and the Tallahassee Museum has a zip line, exhibits, etc. The Tallahassee Car Museum is also another cool spot to spend a few hours.

Great suggestions yall!
I like the fossil hunting thing as I tell my kids all the time about finding stuff in the water. I just don’t know if I want to drive down into the chaos of south Florida.
Houseboat thing would be great too but nothing available.
Kids did the great wolf thing once before.
my kids drive my golf cart and my Polaris like a couple of lunatics but they would love to hit up some go carts.
I haven’t been to Wakulla in a long time. Are there manatees there this time of theyear?

Houseboat Trip
The kids will love it.
I have done this for 7 days, NO ONE wanted to get off at the end.
The kids, now grown, always talk about that trip, never the two Disney Trips

I appreciate you sharing that link. I've been looking for a houseboat trip. We took the kids (they were teens) to Islamorada for a week on a houseboat. Great trip. That place closed down but the st johns trip looks great for me and the wife!

There other places that rent Houseboats, years ago, they were everyplace. I even ran one out of Bahia Mar marina. Pensacola Houseboat Vacations.
IN Florida, they are only on the St. Johns now. I rented one out of Marco Island and went into Ten Thousand Islands for 6 days. Captiva / Sanibel had one.

Other places include Lake Powell, Lake Cumberland, Lake Mead,
Shasta Lake,
Table Rock Lake
Voyageurs National Park | Minnesota
Erie Canal | New York State
Lake Ouachita | Arkansas
Dale Hollow Lake | Tennessee
Norris Lake | Tennessee

I have gone a several houseboat vacations. My St. John Trip, my brother and I rented a pair of Gibson 42' Dual Helm out of Jacksonville and went to Deland and back. I pull a 16 foot with a 4 hp for fishing under trees and suck, my brother pulled a 18' bowrider with a 200hp for water skiing and make runs to the store for more beer and such other fun.

Dock Holiday Marina, Monty Murphy owned it, it is now gone, but he was my advisor when I opened Pensacola House Boat Rentals in 2006 and ran to 2010.

I want to do the Suwannee, bu=t the houseboats are in a state of disrepair currently.
So I will rent a water front home, and cruise the river in my own boat this season.

Use 1/4" mesh. Lots of small teeth but you'll find some bigger ones. Dugong vertebrae, alligator teeth, turtle scutes, lots of skate jaw pieces and even mastodon teeth. Good Luck, love it down there. Take some pics of the finds!

Check out merits mill pond in Mariana, the camo ground is called Florida caverns rv park or something but the lake is called merrits mill pond. Beautiful spring, and fishing is good but it’s hard to catch them due to the crystal clear water but you may have a chance when they are bedding I’ve caught a 6 and a half pounder, a 5 pounder and 3 pounders pretty good when they are on beds.

This bass went 6 and a half and you don’t need a boat to fish there, they have a dock
