Anywhere you can find smooth water is good for kneeboarding and skiing, though skiing is almost a lost art these days. Mostly wakeboarding now days. Back in the day I spent a lot of time kneeboarding and skiing in Bayou Texar, but my favorite place of all was in Sabine, which is now completely a no wake zone. Ahhh the good ole days! So long as the wind is pretty much anything other than a north wind you can drop in at the ramp on the Gulf Breeze side of the bay bridge and go under the bridge to the east and run from there to Butcherpin cove just east of the big sand hill. I've skied, wakeboarded, tubed and kneeboarded there since the 70's.

Thanks for the replies guy, we had a blast today, went out to bayou texar by bayview ramp (making sure no one was launching and staying away from houses of course) managed to get someones anchor line caught in the prop (no one there, it had been cut and was floating under water, thank god it didn't tear it up.

knee boarding

If you are ever on the west side go to the new ramp in Lillian just over the bridge right off 98, launch and go under bridge north part of Perdido Bay. Big play ground with almost no traffic, we used to knee board, watersky, tubbing and 80% of the time flat. Enjoy.
