On the balcony drinking some cool beers at the moment. Boat is in the water ready but not gonna fish till tomorrow afternoon, Friday all day and sat morning. Plan is to head to what my charts show as the southwest edge as that seems much closer than the "edge" south of pcola. Get there and set out some stretch 25/30s and drags some ballyhoo rigs while we try to mark for some vermillions and scamp. First time here usually fishing in biloxi so no clue if this is a fair plan or not but we gonna try. What y'all think? Anyone want to share some awesome vermillion numbers out of destin(hahahaha). Hopefully can hit a wahoo and some mahi but with the recent weather I assume clean water might be hard to find.

You never know, there's been some good fish caught in 2-400' of water off the edge. Good luck! And your plan sounds good, I'd put a very small feather or bullet type lure waaaaay back for blackfin, or a naked ballyhoo on mono

Well not much to report. Finally headed out around 4. Got the "southwest edge" as my chart calls it and set some stretch 30s and ballyhoo out. Trolled about an hour and marked a few spots in the 215-230ft depth range and since it was late decided to go ahead and drop to the bottom some. Caught several white snapper but not vermillions or lanes. Didn't give each spot long though and it was pretty choppy for the small boat so didn't get to do all we wanted. Oh well gave it a shot. Hopefully it'll lay down some tomorrow I doubt we go again if it's that choppy.

Man you better get your country azz back to Mississippi!! We don't fit in with that white sand and saltwater!!
Maybe not the white sand but I grew up in the saltwater ha. I wasn't fully prepared for way the pass is though. Suckers are crazy in there zipping around cutting other folks off etc. eveywhere else was fine dern that pass folks get in it and forget all about common sense and basic boating safety seems like. I should add to that it wasn't the guys who were more local lookin or were fishing....more all the rental boats and jet skis that were acting a fool.

On the fishing....got a late start this morning as my buddy's wife is prego and was having some strong contractions so we waited around to make sure all that was fine. Finally left the pass at 10am and it was still a little rough for the small boat so opted out of trolling and just headed a spot I marked in 218 feet of water. Every drop was an instant hookup there but it was all white snapper. Thatsall we caught on bottom at every mark ever did hit any vermillions but a box full of white snapper will eat too. On the way out we checked a few grass mats and found 2 cobia one just legal in the box and one just short got a tag and release plus about a dozen mahi. Disappointed we didn't find the vermillions and that we couldn't spend any time trolling but still glad to just go blindly somewhere new and find a decent box of fish. Prob done fishing for the trip unless it calms down a bunch tomorrow so likely just take the families to crab island etc tomorrow.

Be there mon-fri next week
Good luck....won't be hard to do better than we did. Just never could really get the fishing trips going right with everything else going on but it was always a family trip first with fishing a bonus. Here is our pitiful catch....not much but they'll eat ok enough.

Buddy with his first tag and release lemonfish....
