I'm currently looking for a little fishing boat to run around in the bay with. Found this on Craigslist. I've never owned a boat before and just want to start with something small and work my way up. The asking price for this boat is in my budget so I'm just trying to find out if thats as good as it gets for that amount of money. Any advice is appreciated.

How old is the boat and motor?

Solid fibergass or composite construction?

If it is composite construction checkaround any cracks in the fiberglass and around all the attached hardware (cleats, rodholders, etc) for signs that the core might be rotten, especially on the transom.

Just keep in mind that the purchase price is the cheapest part of owning a boat:banghead

whatever you do - do a hands - on eyes on inspection, have agood, reputablemech look over the motor - many on here. Plug for DD. take it for a spin - if the owner balks at any of this, walk away - theres are plenty on the market. I thought i was sorta knowledgeable when i bought mine ( first time owner)but i have had some issues i think a more experienced boated probably would have caught....salesman assured me of this and that - needless to say it has been a learning experience. Many on here wont touch a used boat when shoppingbut price dictated my market so ya live and learn... good luck

There are a bunch of boats on craigslist for sale right now, you may want to look back around begining of jan or end of dec for a boat on there b/c that was before everyone started getting income tax back. People know alot of peep have money right now and they over price everything. One thing I will say about buying a boat is don't settle for one buy what you want b/c you'll be happy, and if you settle you will say i wish i would have waited..
