Hi I’m Adam and I’m new to the area. I’m brand new at fishing, seriously I’ve never fished before… well I got this wild hair and decided that I want to fish. I have zero clue what I’m doing but I’m going to try to figure it out. Shoot, I don’t even know how to rig a hook hahaha but I’m reading as much as I can and watching videos.

If you had some advice for a beginner, what would it be? I’m just trying to figure out where to start. I live off Summit Blvd and Scenic Hwy. if there is anyone in the area that could show me how to even bait a hook, I’d appreciate it.

Utube would be a great place to start, just to get some lingo under your belt. Personally I think it's better to take a sip before you try to swallow a mouthful. But stay tuned on here because there gonna be some more interesting answers other than mine, oh, and welcome up!

Welcome aboard. Vic Dunaway's book, Baits, Rigs and Tackle is the bible for angling. I still refer to mine occasionally after 30 years.

Go hang out in a tackle shop like Outcast on a slow day. Walk the aisles, talk to the guys and listen to them deal with customers.

Join a fishing club or make friends with someone at work who fishes. If you get an invite, offer to pay for gas, beverages and help clean up afterwards.

Finally, you won't learn until you go. Tons of places to fish around here from shore, piers. Experiment. Try different baits, lures, rigs.

Good luck and post up some of your "research."

I recommend this.
Go to Steve's Catfish Farm
Open For Fishing
Monday - Saturday
Don't know how to clean catfish?
They will clean or fillet the fish for you for a small fee.
All you gotta do is catch 'em, cook 'em and eat 'em.

Rent a pole there for $5.99.
Catch & Release fees are $18.49 per person
Bait cups are $5.69 per cup
No fishing license required.

Or pay $4.35 per person for Catch and Keep.
You Clean Dressed Whole Filleted
$3.19 / lb. $3.99/ lb. $4.39 / lb.

I guarantee, you will catch fish and be HOOKED!!!
