I purchased a fishing rod and reel off of craigslist on Jan. 15th. I have never recived my product. And somehow he recived payment twice through pay-pal. I have contaced pay-pal in order to try to refund my money but recived no luck from them. The scammer has not returned ANY of my emails or phone call since the transaction took place. I have seen him place more ads on Craigslist since my run in! I just want everyone else to be aware and hope no one else gets GOT

Deal in person on craigslist and you will not get scammed. If they want payment any other way other than in person, run far far away. Simple as that. Sorry that you got scammed.

Did he refuse to meet you in person? If not then I would get somebody he doesn't know to contact him and agree to buy something from him in person, then meet up with him and demand your money back orturn him to the sheriffs office if he refuses.

also if you must "send" payment.... always have them sign for it and ALWAYS send a POSTAL MO..... If they screw you when paying with a PMO then its mail fraud and a felony no matter what the $$ ammount

Wow that sucks, I have only bought one thing off craigslist and I met up with the guy to do that. I'm sorry that he got you. There should be a better way to for craigslist to keep up with people on there, like ebay does.

I own a mail order company selling stuff on my websites, Ebay, Amazon and a few other places. Some of my sales are paid through paypal. If a customer has any complaint at all, they can file through paypal for nonreceipt of the product. I as the seller have to proove to paypal that I sent the item with a tracking number and that number will be scanned at the point of delivery, regardless I sent it usps mail or ups ground ship. The burden of proof is on me the seller. But you have to file a claim on your paypal account. You have a limited amount of time to do this though, but it is a fairly good bit of time.Another thing, when the customer makes the claim, the money is pulled from my account and put in escrow until the dispute is settled. This is how it works with paypal.

Something seems off with this but it could just be you don't know the next step. Worst case you have the man bust his ass. The whole thing should have a paper trail right? Sorry this happened but you are in control with all the info you have on him. I hate a thief

I should have went and picked up the product myself, but I didn't have time to before I had to go back out of town. I have disputed this with paypal.



I just don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did. It will not happen to me again for sure!

I would dispute the second charge with the CC company. They may back that out. Also I would try to get Hotmail to disable his email account since he is using it to scam people.

Ifin it was actually paid through paypal, I can't believe they are not helping you. Live and learn, never buy something unless you can touch it. I actually flagged a add on Craigslist this morning. 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser fer 6K....hmmmmmmmm nahhhhh that can't be a scam you say!!!

When ever you email these dirtbags, it's always the same BS, the vehicle or boat is in storage and they'll pay to ship it to you cause they are moving or being deployed...blah blah blah. I bet fer ever 10 adds they place they probably get 1 sucker!!!:doh:letsdrink
