1 1/2 - 2 lbs. venison steak, flour
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix, water
Salt & pepper to taste
Dredge meat in flour. Melt shortening, brown meat on both sides.
Sprinkle with soup mix. Cover with water. Cover tightly. Simmer 1 1/2
hours or until done on top of stove. Or bake at 350 degrees until tender.
layer a dutch oven with a layer of potato slices, layer of onion rings, layer of deer meat. repeat with those layers again and top with bacon slices. pour 1/2 cup water over it, put the lid on and cook in oven at 300 for 2 hrs. take it out, remove lid and return to oven for 15 min. season any way you like. cook time varies with different ovens so you'll need to do it a few times before getting it just like you want.
