Packed up all my stuff (look like the Beverly Hill Billies moving in). Park my truck in this hot weather, walk with all my junk to my lock on, sweating like the out of shape old guy I am. Arrive at tree, attach all my gear to my rope to pull up. Climb up stick ladder, need oxygen when I get into stand (about 20 ft.). Pull gear up, getting situated and guess what?

What do you see?

1st weekend of the season I was getting my son ready to hunt. We got our rifles and headed out the door. I stopped him and told him to let me check his gun. Yep, your good to go. Get to the tree and I had a thought to check mine. Not a shell in site. It happens.

Unless my day was not falling out with it, I came home after I cursed, screamed and tossed the rest of my stuff out of the tree.

Bad part I was down to just 4, 150 grain 300 wsm. I need to shoot it so I guess I will fall back on a box of 165 grain I bought by mistake.

I do have other rifles but this is my "go to gun".

I feel your pain brother.....I went to BW a few trips ago all hot and bothered about the AWESOME reports!!!! Sweated to death finding the right tree, jacked up and waited. Started calling and bam there goes my call on the ground! Had to jack all the way down then back up so 4 times up the same tree and never saw JACK!!!

I just got my big steel targets, so you wanna try the 300 WSM you'll have to come up when I get the plates chained and painted!!!

Thanks but I'm going to park it for the year and break out my ole reliable 270 or a 7mm08 I picked up.

It either that or sight it in with the 165 grain

So you dropped your rifle? At first I thought you just left it on the ground by mistake.

Man, that's a bad day. Not sure I could ever trust that scope again...hope it has a lifetime warranty.

At least one time I've gone the entire hunt without having one in the chamber. Instead of boom, I would have got "click"....

Took bullets out night before to clean gun.Forgot to put magazine box back in.an hour to the stand get all set up and go to load one in and guess what.mornings shot

I shoot a single shot, hammer action rifle. Year before last I dropped the hammer on an nice six point that was chasing a doe through a cane brake. I say "dropped the hammer" instead of "shot the buck" because that was the only thing that happened. I had forgotten to load the damn thing. Deer sure do run away fast....
