I have the options of hunting during Oklahoma deer muzzle loader season at the end of October or rifle season around Thanksgiving.

During muzzle loader, the bucks are generally in groups or with the does. Racks are generally intact. During rifle seaon, the better bucks are bedded up with does, or moving around looking for them at first light. Many racks have a broken tine or two. We generally see more bucks during muzzle loader season, but can't always reach them.

Normally, I would opt for muzzle loader. However, this year, the full moon will be on day 3 of muzzle loader, and on day 12 of rifle season.

Do you think the full moon cuts down on daytime deer movement?

Absolutely not. You just have to stay in the stand later or all day. Also pay close attentionto when the moon is overhead and under foot. Sometimes during the full moon you will have days when the moon is overhead during hunting hours, be in the stand and take advantageof that. Good luck

Here's my philosophy. You can't shoot a deer unless you are in the woods. I shot a deer after the full moon last year. Came right out at first light just like normal. People on the club shot more deer after other full moons as well. I will not let anything stop me from going to the woods if I can do so. The thought of something causing the deer to not come out is not enough to stop me from going. Can't shoot a deer sitting on the couch.

Hunting a Full moon ?
Sleep in and hunt from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m., ...I LEARNED the hard way.
Once I figured it out, ( especially during warm weather/early bow season) it will cause some green faces in camp.

I kept records while a member of a local club. Almost NO deer were killed on a 3/4 too full moon and days after. The best moon phase to kill on our club was new moon.

What emerald said

Hunt all day 3days prior too and 3 days after the full moon and hunt the mid day during the full moon and concentrate on travel routes as the rut should be in full swing then. Forget the food sources fence lines and draws will be the ticket

If there is no full moon they will bump into trees while they feed. LOL:) just kidding. I dont fully believe that full moon has a play unless there is a lot of pressure where u hunt. I have seen them move in A.M in a high dollar club with little pressure. Last year because of economics I hunted a pressured club. During full moon I changed the way I hunted period. I go in as the others head out. Its funny how they look at me as I drive by them as they come out. I shot 3 nice bucks doing this from 10 to 3 was prime. Just bring your lunch and pee bottle and sit and watch. I like to bring my binos and look into the woods. You will be suprised at what you can make out that you would normally not see. I shot my biggest buck doing this a couple years ago.
