+1:thumbsup:Appears to be rapalas version of a suspending jerk bait. I've never fished that exact one but would be worked just like a Catch 2000 or MR17 from Mirrolure. Great thing about this type bait is all you can do with it. Slow steady retrieves, fast retrieves or you can twitch it and reel. Very versatile.
Excatly...dosen't matter what we think, only matters what the fish like. Try some different retrieves, slow and steady, fast and eratic with lots of pauses, or jerk jerk pause, reel up the slack and repeat. one peice of advice is when you twitch it under water give it just a little slack line so that it comes tight about half way through the twitch, this wil give it better action. good luck, let us know...I'll be looking for a report in the inshore section.
And if this doesn't work, try slash and burn. Reel as fast as you can while slashing the rod downward sharply! Also, don't fish too tight a drag if you're working it this way and a king hits it at 20-30mph that's gonna be A LOT of force!!!By throwing it off the pier I am assuming you are looking for kings. In that case burn it, kings cant resist a flashing bait moving super fast. As soon as you stop it, most of the times kings will just turn away.
Great color too, I catch more fish on pink then any other color.
I usually fish for them with live bait, I just wanted to change it up every once in a while. Snobbeling a cig gets old after a little while hahaNot to be negative but when you loose it you'll know that was one pretty SOB. Hell I'd try and eat that sucker. JMO but if you're working a bridge or pier why spend that kind of money? If you want a king why not a cig under a balloon drifted out with the right current? I know it's all a matter of what you want but damn that's one expensive lure to take a chance on loosing.
I agree, that's why if I'm on the skyscraper I use poppers and lures like Top Dogs .Burn it in. Also, don't be surprised if it won't reach advertised depth. The angle you'll be at working the lure will tend to pull it up higher in the water column.
Agreed, switching it up every once in a while can be fun. I personally wouldn't use an expensive lure in an area where there's as much structure such as a bridge or pier. But sometimes you just have to take a chance on getting cut off to catch the fish of choice. Make sure to keep us up dated on the results :thumbsup:I usually fish for them with live bait, I just wanted to change it up every once in a while. Snobbeling a cig gets old after a little while haha
