Going to st George island for the week and staying on the beach. My son wants to shark fish. What’s the best way to do it- rod, reel, line leader, hook and bait...?
The water is still a little cool inshore for most species but there should be some sharpnose, bonnet heads and a few bulls around. Stop at Fisherman's Choice in Eastpoint and Charles will fix you up.
any fishing rod, 6 ft or longer, reel (spinning) that holds a couple hundred yards of line, some wire leader, 13/0 circle hook, some cut bait (bonita, lady fish, blue fish etc) sinker 4-6 foot above the bait. sling her out and wait. try for an area away from people swimming, and playing in the sand. I presume your fishing from the beach that you're staying on.... be patient and have fun...
