Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and looking to solicit a little advice. Some friends and I are camping at Johnson Beach this weekend and we'll be bringing the kayaks and gear. I've camped here once a year for the past 6 or 7 years, but I haven't really fished it yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated, here's my plan:

We're going to camp at the designated area 1/2 mile from the end of the road and drop the kayaks early mornings on the lagoon side. The plan is to troll for spanish mackerel and maybe try for some speckled trout and redfish along the grass beds on our way out to Fort McRee and Robertson Island (?). When we get there we plan on fishing the small lagoons, the channel, and maybe the gulf side. I guess my main target specie are flounder, spainsh mackerel, and pompano.

For the spanish I was planning on trolling got-cha's or spoons. For the reds and trout I'll work a spoon, speck rig, some artificial. For the pompano I rigged up some pompano leaders with small circle hooks and was going to use sand fleas and shrimp, and possibly pick up some jigs. I'm thinking of bottom fishing the flounder with shrimp.

So does my plan sound like it may be productive? Any suggestions on locations and tackle/technique for the above, esp the flounder and pompano? Is it worth trolling for mackerel in the lagoon, or should we just kayak the gulf side (it's supposed to be reallllllly calm this weekend)?

I know how to fish redfish and speckled trout, as that's what I fish most. I can easily limit out within a 45 minute drive from my house (New Orleans), so I was hoping to hook up with something I don't normally catch in our marshes. Any help and suggestions are GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
