I need about 10 hermit crabs,, anyone know where some are right now,,,,

I know where one is but you can't have Herman...

There are lots of the one's that live on the rocks in the water along the intracoastal... if you are looking for land hermit crabs then I would say Pet Smart is your best bet.

If you are putting them in the tank at you office, I would go buy some. You dont want to put stuff from these waters in your tank. It wouldnt be good. It can screw up the tank. THey are only .99 cents at every shop in town. Water World on 9th ave and Langley, Reef Scapes on Olive road near Acadmey, Aquira on Texar near Palafox. All three shops have them in all the time and they are all the same price. Also for all that algea some snails would be good too and if its cycled there are certain fish that will clean hair algea out quick.

If its not for you tank then discard this message.

I would get them from a fish store. There are aquarium forums and they will tell you not to put anything from the ocean in your aquarium. They carry parrisites and can polute the tank.

Mine must think they are in the wild because i have had them in my tank for a couple years now.

Don't let my hermit crab hear you say that...I have had him for almost three years...he is a very happy camper. Karon (Coryphena) found him in my driveway sporting a very fancy store bought shell...he still is sporting that same shell... although he does swap out for several others in his tank every now and again. He has molted a couple of times in the past three years and is one of the biggest hermit crabs I have ever seen. Spends most of his day in his "man cave"...but does come out to take a dip in one of his two pools. He's very active at night. He also knows who takes care of him...and will come to see me when I tap on his tank

Hermits will do very little for a sandbed. Get a couple of sand sifting stars,nasarius snails and cucumbers for the sand.Also you don't cycle the water, you just change it.
