I've only been down here just over a year now and while I've done a ton of inshore fishing and fly fishing mostly, I haven't been offshore much. Last year I managed a few Cobia and of course lots of snappers nearshore but haven't ventured much at all beyond the bridge rubble and have spent most of my time even closer to shore in the area of the barges.

I've invested in some heavier gear now and looks like the weather might allow me to take my family out a little further this weekend (I'm fishing in a smaller boat - a 22ft pathfinder). My plan is to go out to some of the spots I have marked a few miles from the bridge rubble and do some jigging but this will be my first attempt at this type of fishing in this area on my own.

Not asking for anyone's spots, I've got plenty that I've gathered on my own but I'm GRATEFUL for any advice. Anyone else be out there this weekend?

sounds like you are heading out of destin. Rogers hill is good right now you can pick up some nice triggers. Jacks are on alot of the public wrecks right now, if you stay inshore you will have to go through some throw backs but can get your limit easy. If you get out to the edge, try trolling for wahoo.
