398 has to small of a screen.



Your looking for just a independent Chartplotter. Right?



492 would be my suggestion as a stand alone unit.

The 498 is a combo unit. I have one on my skiff and it works fine for that, but it is not a unit that you want to go bottom dropping with. [to much menu jumping.]



I also use that 498 on the Crows nest of my Mako. It has the internal antenna, so it makes swapping it a snap. When on the Crow Nest there is no X-ducer hooked to it. It's just used for navigation for from the Crows Nest.

there is a 2006C at the lower helm for doing most of the real navigation.
