Glass Repair help - I/O cover

Picked up a Bayliner last fall in decent shape on the cheap. Runs good after a gimbal bearing replacement and otherwise, we're happy with it.

The cowling for the engine is rotted all around. Have not removed any of the vinyl covering yet but obviously there is rotted wood underneath.

How do you suggest doing this on the cheap? I'd like to keep the rounded style to match the current lines. Don't really know where to begin....

Thinking about something along the lines of cutting a 55 gallon drum as it has a similar contour or??????

Please advise.
