Here is what has happened so far. Triggers will close in state waters as well as federal waters on Feb7. The state went compliant. Amberjack minimum size is going to 34". This is in order to lengthen the season. Now for the snapper. The prefered season is Saturday May 23 thru Sunday July 12. Then Saturday's and Sunday's in September and October plus Labor Day Monday and Sunday November 1. This equates to 70 days. A little better than last year. My suggestion of 10 days per month year around was not considered. The FWC will be doing workshops next month to ask us what we want for a snapper season. They will have one of the workshops in Pensacola. We all need to show up. I will get the dates posted when they decide. The state will listen. We will have an Impact unlike the Feds.

Thanks for the info and you taking the time to attend the meeting in Jax!
Thanks for the info. Now if we could get the state to consider leaving trigger open. That would be great.
Meeting

No problem. Glad to do it. It looks like the snapper workshop in Pensacola will be Monday March 9. The day after my sale. Time and location TBA. We will need a great showing. The state will listen. This is a good chance to let them know what we want for a season.
This is getting out of control have been seeing the best number and size on triggers the last few years and just started "trying" to target them because of the snapper grouper and aj regulations
Florida needs to go to a 365 day state water season just like Texas.

THAT will do MORE than anything to get the Feds' attention and would show that AM 40 solves NOTHING.

Florida is just getting in line with what the Feds want, as will the others with the exception on the Great State of Texas. At least those boys still have their pride.

NMFS probably threatened to pull all funding from FWC that it's been getting in the past. This is what happens when a State run organization starts accepting money from Uncle Sam's minions.
Thank you for going on our behalf. I know it is a sacrifice of your time to make that trip. I look forward to the workshop in pensacola

Well maybe the states need to tell the feds to pack sand, our respective congressional leaders will get it back to us in another form.
Thanks Tommy.
