It has not really been that much of a temptation. My two stands are both a little closer than 1/2 mile from this feeder across a small creek.
I guess I had ethics I didn't know I had!!
Over 100 yards away from a feeder and out of sight of the feeder is totally legal this year in Alabama.

I feed deer at an old picnic table in my yard year around. One night a co-worker was leaving my house, and I pointed out a fine 10 point at the table, not 25 yards away. He looked at the buck and said, "Yeah, right!"

That's when the buck took off. My co-worker said, "Damn. Until he ran off, I thought you had put up a cardboard cut-out of a buck to fool me."

I've shot 90% of the deer I've killed in my life at a feeder, but this is somehow different. Put most of the guys here in my position and I would bet that very few deer would get killed at that feeder. Regardless of the law, it would just be so easy it would be wrong.
I know plenty of people that have feeders at their house etc... that just love to see and watch the deer there. They go another 200 yards into the woods and will shoot the same deer. But their backyard is a sanctuary to feed and watch!

In fact it's my 20 year plan to move to such a place where I can feed and watch deer from my back porch. But then move off into the woods and hunt on my own property.
