Well.. It was the perfect day to take off work. After a little bit of research and some dialogue with some folks that had been out the last couple weeks it was decided to head to the 385 area in hope of some wahoo, kings and snapper, there and along the way. Thought about making the trip to the nipple, 131 elbow but decided not too. On the way out, a guy was catching bait and asked us if we wanted about 100 good sized pinfish. Of-course, we took them. THANKS MAN!!
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Headed out of Goat Hole around 6:30 and pointed the bow south in the flat seas. Ran out to a little jackup rig out there working on some wellhead. Caught a bunch of cigs, herring and hartails and decided to start fishing. Caught two ling at this jackup rig prior to our departure further south. Ran to the double rig in between the main dumping ground and the 385 to give it a try there for some kings. Water looked good but there was too much work being done one the rig and we could not get close. Continued on to the 385 area and stopped at on of the smaller rigs in the area. Freaking Cudas were everywhere and we could not keep them off our lines. Big freaking cudas. They were nailing our bait as soon as we would let it back.
Stopped trolling and pulled up to this rig for some bottom fishing. First drop and a nice 30lb ling was caught. Must have been the full moon but the Ling were everywhere.

Moved onto the 385 and caught King, Cudas, Giant hartails, a bunch of amberjack, snapper, grouper, but no wahoo to be found. Decided to pick up and troll east and look for some new natural bottom spots. Didn?t find any and made it to the next rig and started catching Cudas and amberjack again.

Moved to the VK 124 a area and fished a couple private spots. Ended up catching more snapper and a bunch of kings. The most kings we have caught all year. Hooked something huge and fought it for about 20 minutes to have the main line break. Oh well nice trip, Great weather. So we ended it with the one that got away and headed in!
