Heard this am that Mr Frank Helton passed away today.. He was the one who got all this cobia fishing craze started here on the gulf coast.. RIP frank....
Sad to hear. Frank has probably caught more cobia than anyone on earth! Back when we had a large cobia migration, he would be the only boat on the water and would usually fish by himself.
“Living Legend” Frank Helton – 1931-2012 Frank Helton, Cobia fishing legend, Daddy, Paw Paw and friend passed away this morning in Ft. Walton Bch., FL. Funeral arrangements are pending and we will post specifics later tonight. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
Sorry to hear this. Glad I got to spend a bit of time with him and hear him tell some tales. Glad I was help to have him at a seminar and others could hear him as well.
I loved it when said jap hook and people didn't know what to think. Jap hook!
I pray that I may live to fish.......
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
