Any recommendations on a good intro fly reel? my great uncle left me a rod and I need a reel for saltwater fishing (speck/redfish)

orvis battenkill, allen kraken, tfo bvk, all quality products for a reasonable price. not everyone needs an everglades to start out with

Any of the other suggestions ITT before you really get down the rabbithole with Sage, Tibor, etc.

Consider line weight and fly line brands. Gink and Gasoline just had a nice piece on cleaning fly line that can save you a lot of money.

For your purposes, the reel doesn't really matter that much (right now) aside from a sentimental attachment to it and the fact that it was a nice gift from somebody who cared about you.

Chris can help out with all of the above. Before I left the Panhandle, I was always kind of surprised that a lot of people don't seem to care about fly fishing.
