Is there a FL law that regulates towing weight? In NC right now the DMV and cops are making a stink about weights on truckregistrations not matching what people are actually towing (something like that - its confusing!). They are towing more than what their truck registrationsstate on paper. They are having to get a yearlyspecial oversize permitif they are towing over their registration weightand/ora trailer over 8'6" wide. Fines are $500 if the cop stops and weighs you on the spot and you're over the #.Can someone point me in the rightdirection for FL information and regulations..?

You are talking about 3/4 - 1ton p/u trucks and not about semi's? I know in Al. they are requiring pu trucks to get proper weight tags to go along with the weight they are towing. In Al. they are called x-tags (example 4x1 0000, 4x2 0000) x designates heavier load. You are not supposed to pull a 32' 5th wheeltravel trailer(14,000+/-) with a chevy 2500 diesel (6000+/-) total weight of 20,000+/-,with the same tag as your honda civic (2500+/-)might have on it. Just another way to extract funds. As far as width goes, therehasalways been a max width 8'6" without a permit, not really enforced unless it was very obvious. Used to check them and never measured a boat behind a p/u truck.
