black sea bass is correct...we used to catch them all the time in the Chesapeake Bay when I was growing up...we called them black willy's..that was our made up name for them when I was a kid...quite a tasty fish...very firm white flesh.

With age the males develop a fatty lump on the head in front of the dorsal fin. I believe it is a type of Grouper but never gets very large. The admiral says it's the best eatn' fish out there...

They're great eating... I personally haven't caught one on the gulf side, but the Atlantic is full of them. Usually where there is one, there are hundreds more the same size :hungry...

That is certainly a black sea bass...we caught so many down around horseshoe beach florida back in July (GOM) and they were soooo good...I do know that it is not a tilapia but it is a good guess cause they are from the cichlid family and they look similar
