Seems there are a number of us not catching the Red Snapper yet. Caught a few Lane and Vermilion...but just can't catch a Red. Been to the Three Bridges area and to Adm Fetterman. Fished bottom and upward. Not trying to catch them all but don't want to be skunked :(

My son did hook into something very large this past Friday out around three barges. Just went straight down. We would get three or four cranks on it and it would pull it right back out. Finally broke the 40lb braid with about 20 feet still out. Fought it about 20-25 minutes.

Anyway, any site suggestion would be greatly appreciated.... I only have a few more opportunities to go this season.

Thanks!

What type of rigs are you using as terminal tackle? Baits? 40 lb braid is too light to be prepared for big bottom fish and or sharks that will take your bait.
Try fishing some less pressured areas 80-150 feet deep...head out to 3 mile ledge and drift good bottom. They love big butterflied baits and bonito strips
