I have a 2008 Yamaha VX110 that I am having a little issue with that I cannot seem to track down. Electrical is not my forte so any advice is greatly appreciated. Below is a list of completed tasks up to this point:

  • Battery died so purchased a new battery thinking this was the quick solution and most probable culprit. After a few days this battery also died.
  • Charged new battery to ensure full and replaced.
  • Checked voltage with ski connected and not running which was at 12.x volts
  • Checked voltage with ski running which shows 14.4v to 14.7v so I am assuming that the stator and rectifier / regulator are working properly (Correct me if I am wrong here)
Now I am down to assuming that I either have purchased a new battery that is not holding a charge OR there is a parasitic draw somewhere in the system. The ski has no added or modified electrical systems.

How do I check for a parasitic draw and how do I pinpoint the culprit?

Thanks for all the assistance in advance!

Easiest way to narrow it down is to pull fuses 1 at a time and test the battery voltage before and after each fuse has been out for awhile. Preferably overnight for each fuse. Will need a good multimeter to give you reliable readings.
