ESPN is to be commended for exposing the Obama Admin's Oceans Policy Task Force and its extreme anti-fishing agenda. And Michelle Malkin's HotAir.com is to be commended for giving legs tothe story but also for including Obama's sack of lies in Sportfishing Magazine's pre-election Q&A

Couzin It - its dead serious. Even DrudgeReport.com linked to this article. And unlike the Mainstream Media, Matt Drudge's people fact check the hell out of a story before they'll link to it.

Many of you may be saying to yourselves this can never happen, not here, too many people would be out of jobs, no way, yada yada. Well, to see a smaller scale version of this elitist out-of-touch arrogance all you have to do is look at the pending east coast SAFMC Amendment 17B ban on deepdropping in waters deeper than 240 feet. It's practically a done deal despite thousands of recreationals coming out against this at the SAFMCpublic hearings and scoping meetings.

The Obama Administration accepted tens of millions of 08 campaign dollars from the well-funded Envirofascist lobby. Now its payback time. Thats why the Obama Administration is allowing the anti-fishing Envirofascist lobby to write the agenda for the Task Force whilst freezing out any meaningful input from recreationals. And its why the Obama Administration will allow itself to be ordered by the Envirofascists to use an executive order to ban all fishing in public offshore & inland waters.

I think banning all hunting is on their agenda first since it has more support from their wackos and less resistance from the public. Banning fishing would destroy to many industries and be much harder on them politically.

This story has gone "viral" among military members. I got over 20 emails linking to this story, today. I'm betting this story was leaked to the Administration can back way from the worst case by half, then tell people they're "doing us a favor" by reducing the recommended restrictions.

While we lambaste Obama and his administration, let's not forget those who put this guy and his pack of Chicago thugs in office. Without them, Obama would be nothing more than a "clean, well spoken" junior senator with a paper-thin resume and a record of voting "present" on most issues. (there's "leadership" for ya...)

NRA to powerful to let that happen. But Rec fishing, well we ain't that organized. Plus they'll try catch and release only which will sell to many folks.

catch and release kinda useless when the 10 point buck has a hole thru his heart.

This is for real, and it's getting a lot of coverage.I saw it on Drudge this morning and on Breitbart. It will affect everyone that fishes -- fresh or saltwater, inland or offshore. Here's the bottom line. The proposal was put together by extremeenvironmental groups whose goal is to ban fishing. The president plans to implement theirplan by executive order.

"With what's being created, the same principles could apply inland as apply to the oceans," he said. "Under the guise of 'marine spatial planning' entire watersheds could be shut down, even 2,000 miles up a river drainage from the ocean.

<SPAN id=_ctl1_ctlTopic_ctlPanelBar_ctlTopicsRepeater__ctl3_lblFullMessage>First let me say thatI am not an obama supporter and thatthis plancould have implications for us all depending on how it is implemented.

However the ESPN article is overdone in my opinion. There was a public comment period provided for the workings of this task force. We hadour opportunity to make direct comments to the group putting this togetherand that time is now over-(except through our legislators etc).

As I remember there were posts here on the PFF at some point requesting PFF members to make a comment on theplan.

Below link is to the comments that were made on the plan.there were 1900+ commentsmade-many by tree huggers -many by fisherman.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ceq/initiatives/oceans/interimreport/comments

you can sort the public comments by State and city. Total of 23 comments from the entire State of Alabama and 5 total comments listinga hometown of Pensacola...

I would have thought there were more PFF members that would have made a comment....

Somehave asked for a conservation section on the PFF so that opportunities to comment on aplan such as the one discussed in the ESPN article do not pass by unnoticed. Probably a good idea.

This is all over the news sites online now. Surely not with the jobs and ecomonic impact this would cause. He has enough on his plate that he cannot figure out right now and I think looking to fix the wrong things in the US. Commercial vs Recreational vs Conservation is diffucult enough, the last thing we need is some knee jerk reactionon this topic. Guess we will all fly to Mexico or Bahamas to fish or State's could buck up and say "No" and at least have State Water regulations that trump Fed like Texas has done recently.

He's not afraid of the NRA, Look what he is doing with health care. All he has to do is sign an executive order and it done. Nothing the NRA

can do about it.The NRA is small potatoes when it comes to powerful groups like PEW, PETA and the Sierra Club. The enviro wackos have billions in their coffers. They spend more buying local politicians then the total NRA's budget for the last ten yearsThe Demsare already committing political suicide and nothing is slowing them down.

I agree its political suicide, but my NRA comment was relative to how much public comment was received thus far. If it had been an NRA related issue you could bet there would have been much more comment, and it would have been on national news as a big story much earlier. Currently the most organized input is coming from the same nuts that started this garbage.

So in short, my point is that we must get organized and involved somewhere other than just the PFF.

Call and write your congressman, protest your ass off, whatever constructive thing you can do to stop this abuse of power. Don't sit around and think the boat dealers, tackle shops, or some other threaten interest group is going to solve the problem.

Make your selves heard loud and clear or you'll get the government you deserve.

While I agree that it may have been a little knee jerk reaction from a maybe overzealous reporter. I think we would all be naive to think that there wasnt just a little bit of truth to his report and now we are seeing damage control here. There are plans to close some fishing grounds to bottom fishing in some areas, although I dont know of any in the GOM.
