"If" the donkey was a repeat offender of getting out and causing trouble then, oh well problem solved. The owners should have to pay for the execution and removal as well as any damage or expense due to their negligence of not properly containing the animal. It is their responsibility to keep their animals contained properly. If an accident happened because of this loose animal what would yall be saying then? The only Jack-ass in this was the owner who can not properly care and control the beast. Life lessons folks.

Haven’t been around too many farm animals have you? Would you feel the same way if this was your dog?

Good research Jack. "Authority to impound livestock running at large or strays." I skimmed over it quickly but I did not see a "required" course of action, even in the event of danger or public nuisance. I believe the Sheriffs Dept does and should have the ability to make a judgement call in this type of situation. I guess more people then not want to make it someone else's fault and responsibility more then the owner of a pet/animal that repeatedly gets out and cause problems. We are doomed. I would not take the case, the owner is responsible regardless of laws written or legislation passed. (Not a Lawyer just hard core southern conservative.)

I think he was ill prepared to deal with the donkey and is a piece of shit for shooting it, but the SO to then arrest him after public outcry was bullshit. He definitely has grounds for a lawsuit.

I knew this would get some distinctly different opinions. Considering the “misinformation” from the sheriff’s, I would really suspect any other information/evidence presented as being garbage. The Phone call is very damning to the sheriffs.

My point is they ran this guy over the coals with lies not just locally, but it also went nationally. He was arrested. They even knew they had his phone calls. And then I found this on line, very well hidden. No news headlines. How does he ever renew his reputation? Did anyone else online here see this before? I doubt it. $ is probably not the answer. I knew a teacher who shot a horse in an antlered buck only season. This has followed him past the grave.

Yes it makes a big difference if you have a dog in the fight with how you feel. Some of us have had livestock and pets. Most of us on PFF do kill animals for sport and/or food. Sometimes the lines are blurred.

The contractor should have never been arrested. The laughter is because of the enormous southern accent and choice of words Not the subject. Yes, he should have caught the donkey if it were possible to do safely then hold donkey as described by law. However should have are must do are two different things. It was the sheriffs office call and they obviously gave the contractor permission. I having listened to the tape, do think it was poor judgement on the contractor and officers but I was not there. No one should have been arrested.
